One build per class, at a glance (v0.119.0 as reported; v0.120.4 update in progress — see patch history). Rule that fixes most weak runs: fill your six spell slots first, then rank up your best area spell. New spells add coverage early; once slots are full, high-rarity upgrades for your best spell beat another weak spell.

Spell pools, not just build picks
Class spell pools total 103 abilities: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest and Shaman have 11 each, Mage has 13, Warlock and Druid have 12 each. The build table above is a recommended pick per class, not the full pool. In a run you have 6 spell slots, 2 ring slots, 2 trinket slots and 1 amulet slot.
How to play the S-tier builds: Hunter — hold a line for Auto Shot, take Aimed Shot crit, finish with Kill Shot. Warlock — spread plague, let Corruption and Seed of Corruption do the area work, do not stand in the pack to compensate for 165 starting health. Mage — keep space, chain fire explosions, take Pyroclasm as the capstone. Beginner builds: Paladin — stand in Consecration, build a shield bastion around Light's Grace. Warrior — Cleave a side of the blob, build Eternal Whirlwind toward Bladestorm.

Should I take a new spell or rank up?
New spell first, until all six slots are full. After that, rank up your best area spell.
How many capstones does a class have?
Most classes have three; Druid and Warlock have four (extra form / demon capstones). One capstone is active per build, at 30 points in its tree — not 25, despite one competitor FAQ saying 25.
